Indices, also called stock indexes, reflect the performance of a group of selected stocks or assets traded on a specific exchange. Well-known global indices include the Dow Jones Industrial Average, ASX 200, Hang Seng, CN50, and the Straits Times Index. Each index follows its own methodology and criteria for selecting the stocks it comprises.

Indices trading refers to buying and selling financial instruments that track the performance of a group of stocks or other financial assets, rather than individual securities. An index is essentially a measurement of the performance of a particular market, and indices trading involves trading on the direction of that market by buying or selling derivatives based on the index. For example, the S&P 500 index tracks the performance of the top 500 publicly traded companies in the United States. By trading S&P 500 futures contracts, traders can trade on whether they believe the overall value of those companies will go up or down. Indices trading can be done through a variety of financial instruments, including contracts for difference (CFDs) which allows for leveraged trading. At HFM, you can trade CFDs on major Indices, such as UK 100 and GER 40, with leverage and ultra-fast execution. You can choose between the MT4 and MT5 platforms and the HFM App to start trading CFDs on Indices.
You can’t buy or sell an index directly, but at AssexMarkets, you can trade indices as CFDs. Our index CFDs are based on the price of the underlying assets. Take advantage of competitive spreads when trading popular indices like the UK100 and DE40.
Our pricing engine gathers live data in real time from multiple liquidity providers to determine a dynamic mid-point price. A custom-built algorithm then calculates a symmetrical spread around this mid-point for each tradable instrument. As market conditions shift, the mid-point adjusts continuously throughout the day.
MetaTrader 5 is built for speed and stability — essential features during periods of high market volatility when price movements can be fast and unpredictable. You can download it to your desktop, access it directly from your browser, or trade on the go with your mobile device.
